School Program Presenters Needed!

Do you have a keen interest in Delta's history and culture, and enjoy working with and educating children? Learn more below and apply to be a Delta Museum School Program Presenter!

The Delta Museum is in a transition phase as we move from the previous site in the Historic Municipal Hall to our new site at 4450 Clarence Taylor Crescent, immediately south of the Delta Municipal Hall. A full slate of exhibits and programs will be available towards the end of 2017.

In the meantime, we continue to offer outreach and research services. If you have an exhibit or program idea, please call us and we can discuss how we can support your project, exhibit or educational goals.

Donating to the Collection

At this time, the museum is reviewing its policies and procedures relative to collecting, and how the items collected can support our vision for the future where we tell comprehensive stories about all of Delta’s history and identity. If you have a cherished article that you feel will help us tell a vibrant, exciting story, please contact us and we will review the item together. All donations to the museum are being received by appointment only through the curator, Darryl MacKenzie, 604-952-3837, dmackenzie@delta.ca.

There are many areas of interest that have been identified to enhance the collection. All items of historical value are considered as they arise. Areas of concentration for collecting over the next two years will be:

  • Evidence of the resources of the Fraser Estuarine Delta
  • North Delta development, especially the following ethnic groups: Norwegian, Japanese, South Asian
  • Foundational families of North Delta
  • North Delta municipal infrastructure development
  • Annacis Island development
  • Pre-1900 community development
  • Agricultural mechanization and science
  • Fishing in the wake of industry depletion
  • Indigenous community development after 1900

School Programs

Explore various cultural traditions through a series of curriculum-relevant classroom presentations and education kits for K-12 students focusing on Delta’s cultural and natural history. Through discussion, observation and hands-on experience with "touchable" artifacts from the museum's collection, these programs help bring our local history to life and add an extra dimension to the school curriculum.
