112 Street and 80 Avenue Intersection Improvements

Updates

Following the Public Information Meeting on March 11, 2014, and receipt of resident feedback, the proposed two-lane roundabout project has been amended to a signalized intersection.

A second Public Information Meeting was held on June 25, 2015 to discuss the proposed 112 Street and 80 Avenue intersection improvements. Based on resident feedback, the design has been revised and is attached for your information.

The modified design reduces the length of the southbound left turn lane on 112 Street thereby providing more on-street parking for residents along 112 Street.

Overview

The proposed intersection improvements at 112 Street and 80 Avenue include:

  • Extension of the southbound left turn lane on 112 Street to increase storage;
  • Road widening along 112 Street to accommodate future 1.8m wide bike lanes;
  • New westbound right turn lane on 80 Avenue;
  • Extension of the westbound left turn lane on 80 Avenue to increase storage;
  • New northbound right turn lane and quadrant island on 112 Street;
  • New bus stop pull-outs on 112 Street with shelter improvements;
  • Sidewalk replacements along 112 Street;
  • New 3.5m wide asphalt multi-use pathway along the south side of 80 Avenue;
  • New decorative burgundy LED street lighting along 112 Street;
  • New single davit LED street lighting along 80 Avenue;
  • Traffic signal upgrades and fiber optic pre-ducting;
  • Drainage improvements including new catchbasins, swales, and lawnbasins;
  • Watermain and sanitary sewer upgrades;
  • New boulevard trees; and,
  • Roadway re-paving.

Construction for the 112 Street and 80 Avenue Intersection Improvement project is tentatively scheduled as follows:

  • Early 2016 – Water and Sewer Construction
  • Summer 2016 – Road Construction and Signal Improvements
