Work Zone & Traffic Control
The Boundary Bay Regional Park will remain open throughout construction. Minor traffic delays can be expected.
The majority of the storm sewer construction will take place along the northbound lane of Boundary Bay Road and single lane alternating traffic is required during daytime construction. Expect delays while single lane alternating traffic is in effect.
As the project is located within an archaeological zone, qualified archaeologist and representatives from the First Nations will be on site to guide the construction crews. To prevent any damage and/or loss of archaeological material, pipe installation within the roadway will be slow.
The Boundary Bay Road Stormwater Improvements Project is part of Delta’s initiative to improve the drainage system in our community.
The stormwater improvements include:
- Installation of a large diameter storm sewer along Boundary Bay Road, between Ironwood Place and 12 Ave
- Installation of a temporary overland watermain bypass system along the shoulders of Boundary Bay Road to accommodate construction, and
- Construction of a flow control structure south of Ironwood Place.
Construction of the storm sewer pipe along Boundary Bay Road commenced in late March 2018 and is now approximately halfway complete. Upon completion of the project, Boundary Bay Road, will be repaved (likely September 2018).
