On March 10, 2017, the Highway 91 to Highway 17 and Deltaport Way Corridor Improvement Project was announced by the Province. The project includes new interchange structures and the construction of an additional 15 kilometres of highway, at a total estimated cost of over $245 million dollars.
On June 28, 2018, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure held an open house to discuss the project with residents and business owners. In terms of next steps, site investigation and early works are expected to start during summer 2018, with project completion scheduled for 2023.
Pre-load work will begin in mid-January, and will be underway for approximately two months. The pre-load site is located near the intersection of Highway 17 and the Highway 91 Connector. Please refer to the map below for location details.
Work will take place from Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In order to minimize dust and debris on local roads, the contractor will be required to cover the dump trucks while on route to and from the site and conduct street sweeping.
Full project completion is scheduled for 2023.
