Delta Fire Department will once again be participating in the province wide Fire Prevention Week Program. This year’s theme is Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 years.
This represents the final year of a three-year effort to educate the public about basic but essential elements of smoke alarm safety. The National Fire Protections Association’s survey data shows that the public has many misconceptions about smoke alarms e.g. how old they are, which may put them at increased risk in the event of a home fire. Having a smoke alarm cuts the chances of dying in a reported fire in half!
As in previous years, this will kick off the department’s school program and Fire Chief for the Day program.
