Remembering Ann Claggett
Mayor Lois E. Jackson and Council extend their deepest condolences to the family of Ann Claggett, a long-time Delta resident and former Councillor, who passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015. Ann was a respected member of Delta Council from 1987–1993 and again from 1999-2002.

Mayor Jackson receives UBCM Long Service Award to 35+ Years of Service
At the Monday, November 2, Regular Meeting of Council, Union of BC Municipalities President Al Richmond awarded Mayor Lois E. Jackson with the UBCM Special Long Service Award for her 35+ years of dedication and service as an elected member of Delta Council. 

Mayor Jackson also received the 11th Premier's Innovation and Excellence Award in Recognition of Excellence in Partnerships for the Roberts Bank Rail Corridor program. 

TransLink Public Advisory Committee
TransLink is inviting anyone who lives, works, plays in or travels through Richmond, South Delta or Tsawwassen First Nation to apply for a position on a Public Advisory Committee to ensure that community issues, concerns and questions about the Southwest Area Transport Plan are heard. Operation Red Nose
With the Christmas season fast approaching, Operation Red Nose is preparing for its 2015 campaign. This year’s kickoff event will take place on Friday, November 13, 3–4 pm, at the Delta Sport and Development Centre. Hosted by the Delta Gymnastics Society, enjoy a gymnastics demonstration, meet Rudy the mascot, and learn more about how Operation Red Nose helps hundreds of people get home safely throughout the holidays. Remembrance Day
This year, to honour the men, women, and animals that fought for our freedom, Delta is hosting two Remembrance Day ceremonies on November 11. In South Delta at Ladner Memorial Park, the Royal Canadian Legion Delta Branch 61 will lead a parade at 10:15 am from the legion hall at 4896 Delta Street to the Cenotaph at Ladner Memorial Park. In North Delta, the Kennedy House Seniors Society is hosting a ceremony at the North Delta Social Heart Plaza at 10:40 am with a reception at North Delta Recreation Centre shortly after. Inter-Municipal Business Licence Bylaws
Following Delta’s participation in the successful Metro West Inter-Municipal Business Licence (IMBL) pilot program, Council approved the staff recommendation to proceed with a permanent IMBL program to continue to allow construction and trades-related businesses to operate with one business licence in the six participating municipalities. To further support these businesses, Council approved the second staff recommendation to join the Fraser Valley Inter-Municipal Business Licence program. View the staff report.


Neilson Grove Elementary
Council approved the staff recommendation that $35,000 from the Community Initiated Cost Sharing Projects fund be contributed to the expansion of existing playground structures at Neilson Grove Elementary School. View the staff report.


North Delta Recreation Centre Update
Council received an update on the progress of the North Delta Recreation Centre expansion project, which is nearing completion. The expansion includes a 6,000 square foot fitness centre, expanded North Delta municipal business centre, gymnasium and more. View the staff report.

Hawthorne Grove Park – Agricultural Display Barn
Council approved the staff recommendation that the Kirkland House Foundation pursue the development of an agricultural display barn at Hawthorne Grove Park. Council further approved a $10,000 contribution from Delta’s Community Initiated Cost Sharing fund to initiate design work. View the Staff Report.
