Programs and Activities at Delta Libraries

What's happening at the Delta Libraries during the week of June 5 - 11 

On Saturday, June 11, staff from the Delta Community Animal Shelter visit the Ladner Pioneer Library, 4683 – 51 Street, Delta at 10:30 am and the George Mackie Library, 8440 – 112 Street, Delta at 2:30 pm and will bring along some of their adoptable animals!  Everyone is welcome to meet them and learn more about what adoption entails.

Grab a table and study at George Mackie Library, Ladner Pioneer Library or Tsawwassen Library during the month of June! Feeling anxious? There will be random visits from St. John Ambulance therapy dogs – put your stress in their paws.

Summer Reading Club starts on Saturday, June 11! Grab your compass and get ready to travel the world!  Book A Trip to a Delta library and join up!

Teen Exam Cram
Wednesday, June 1 – Tuesday, June 28 – All Delta Libraries
Exams coming up?  Anxiety rising?  Need to study?  Come to the Tsawwassen Library throughout the month of June and grab a seat to cram for your exam! There will be random visits from St. John Ambulance therapy dogs – put your stress in their paws.

Are you interested in adopting a dog or cat, or even a rabbit or guinea pig? Come on down and hang out with a knowledgeable staff member from the Delta Community Animal Shelter, meet some of our adoptable animals, and learn more about what adoption entails. Adopting a homeless animal in need can be one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences. This seminar will go through the different steps that are recommended to properly prepare for your new furry friend, as well as things you can now participate in together! Embarking on this adventure is always a good idea, and will not only enrich your life but that of a deserving animal in need! Everyone welcome!

Summer Reading Club begins at your local Delta library
Book a Trip! Children, teens and adults can sign up for the 2016 Summer Reading Club at their local Delta Library beginning Saturday, June 11 and receive a fabulous free reading record.  As your record fills up throughout the summer, there are great prizes to win.  Kids who complete their reading record will be eligible to receive a special Summer Reading club medal!

Adult Colouring Program
Thursdays, May 5 – August 25, 2 – 4 pm – Tsawwassen Library, 1321A – 56 Street, Delta
No need to stay inside the lines at the Tsawwassen Library Colouring Club!  Come to the library to colour the stress away!  Meet the other colouring enthusiasts to share this great hobby and compare your artwork.  Supplies will be provided - including colouring pages from some popular adult colouring books (but feel free to bring your own colouring projects).


Ukulele Jam in the Park!
Thursday, June 16, 7 – 8:30 – Memorial Park behind the Ladner Pioneer Library
All uked up and no place to jam?  Whether you are a ukulele newbie or a seasoned strummer, please join us for a fun and relaxed evening with fellow uke enthusiasts.  The group plays an eclectic mix of music so there will be something for everyone.  Bring your ukulele and your singing voice and join us for a great time. The group resumes meeting on the third Thursday of the month at Tsawwassen Library for the following dates: July 21, August 18.

Conversation Circle: Practice Your English
Thursdays, June 16 – August 25, 7 – 8:30 pm –George Mackie Library, 8440 – 112 Street, Delta  
If you are learning English and want to practice speaking with other people in a friendly, casual place, then join us for weekly guided discussions about Canadian culture, food and current events.
