The 12th Avenue drainage pump station is more than 50 years old and is in need of a complete replacement. This station provides drainage to Boundary Bay for a portion of the Beach Grove community, the low lands south of 12th Avenue, a portion of the Tsawwassen urban area, and a portion of Point Roberts, USA, comprising a total catchment area of approximately 900 hectares. Studies have shown that the pump station is at capacity and requires up-sizing to deal with future growth. The controls and discharge piping are also in need of replacement as they are near the end of their service life. In addition, storm water conveyance and control improvements along with the construction of a wetland treatment facility will mitigate flood risk, improve agricultural production, and enhance the quality of effluent discharged into Boundary Bay. The proposed works consist of the following components:
- Stormwater inlet control structure
- Stormwater conveyance pipeline
- Wetland treatment facility
- Pump station replacement
- Dike raising and channel adjustment
