DISCUSSION REPORTS

Day of Mourning – April 28, 2017

Mayor Lois E. Jackson and Council expressed their support for a moment of silence in remembrance of workers killed or injured on the job. The CUPE Day of Mourning Flag will be raised on Delta’s Special Flag Pole and remain for one week beginning April 24, 2017. The official Day of Mourning for Workers Killed and Injured on the Job is Friday, April 28, 2017. On that day, all flags will be lowered to half-mast from dawn to dusk. View the staff report.

Grant Application of Salinity Monitoring Funding

Council approved the application for a grant from Farm Credit Canada to be used by the Delta Farmers’ Institute and the Corporation of Delta for the purpose of salinity monitoring within the Fraser River. The grant, which could provide up to $25,000, would cover the purchase of necessary equipment and installation costs. As the Delta Farmers’ Institute is not a registered charity, the Corporation of Delta would need to co-apply for the funding. This project meets the necessary requirements for the grant and an application will be submitted by the April 17, 2017 deadline. View the staff report.
