Mayor Harvie and Council Increase Deltassist Funding
Dec 11, 2018
Mayor Harvie and Council unanimously approved Deltassist’s request for an additional $75,000 in annual funding at the December 10, 2018 Regular Council Meeting.
The additional funding will assist seniors through shopping services, daily phone check-ins, information and referral services, counselling, and the Better at Home program, which enables seniors to remain in their homes while receiving help for tasks that they are no longer capable of completing. Mayor Harvie has also committed to sending a letter to the BC Ministry of Health, with copies to Delta’s MLA’s, requesting additional funding for the Better at Home program.
“For many years, programs offered by Deltassist have helped to weave the social fabric of this community,” says Mayor George V. Harvie. “I believe that it is important to ensure that this integral non-profit organization be given the financial support it needs to continue to create a better life for our seniors and youth.”
