New Application for a 40-Unit Ladner Townhouse Development

Council received information on a proposed development application to amend the Official Community Plan in order to consolidate the seven lots located at 4876, 4888, 4896, 4906, 4928 and 4938 57 Street, into a single development site for the construction of 40 townhouse units. A public information meeting will be scheduled to introduce the proposed development to the community. View the staff report.


Facility Rental Fee Grants Awarded for Annual Ladner Bandfest

Council approved facility rental fee grants for the Delta Music Makers Society to hold their 15th annual Ladner Bandfest event at Memorial Park, June 1-2, 2019. View the staff report.


Facility Rental Fee Grant Awarded to Delta Farmland & Wildlife Trust for BBQ Fundraiser

Council approved a facility rental fee grant and relaxation of the Delta Noise Control Bylaw for the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust’s Solstice BBQ fundraiser on June 22, 2019 at the Harris Barn. View the staff report.


City Supports Ministry Application for Pesticide Use Permit to Control Spartina

Council endorsed a recommendation to provide a letter of support for the pesticide use permit application initiated by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development in the Ministry’s efforts to eradicate Spartina from British Columbia. Spartina anglica is an invasive cordgrass designated as a noxious weed under the BC Weed Control Act. The proposed pesticides in the application are the same products as applied under the previous 2016-2018 permit. View the staff report.


City Challenges Vancity Report on Waste Diversion & Disposal Rates

Council approved that staff send a letter to Vancity highlighting Delta’s concerns on the municipal waste disposal comparisons made in Vancity’s February 2019 report related to household garbage production in Delta. It is unclear what information is included in the individual waste disposal data used by Vancity in its report, as waste collection data and reporting methods vary across the region. According to Metro Vancouver’s report on waste collection data, Delta’s 2017 waste disposal and diversion rates are in line with regional averages. View the staff report.
