New Expanded Youth Admission Pass Available July 1

Apr 12, 2019

A major component of the new Delta Families First initiative – an expanded free youth admission pass program – was unanimously approved by Delta Council at the April 8, 2019 Regular Meeting.

Effective July 1, 2019, the new youth pass provides Delta kids between the ages of 10 and 18 (grades 5 through 12) with free admission to all City of Delta recreation facilities and any drop-in activities at these facilities. The expanded youth pass is an investment to support more than 13,000 Delta youth by providing options to promote physical activity and healthy habits at a young age. Furthermore, the pass offers youth free access to a safe environment to take part in recreational activities.

“I want families to know that their tax dollars are going towards community-minded policies and projects that serve the needs of Delta families first and help provide positive opportunities for children and youth. Our priority as your Mayor and Council is to build upon and enhance the quality of life for our residents.”       - Mayor George V. Harvie

The City’s new expanded youth admission pass program is the first in the region to offer such an extensive free youth admission pass. Currently, Delta offers a complimentary youth pass program for Delta students in grades five through eight – this program will be replaced by the new youth admission pass on July 1. Over the years, other local governments have followed Delta’s lead in improving access to registration for youth and Delta is excited to continue this leadership role with the new expanded youth pass.

The new youth admission pass program is part of Delta Families First, an initiative launched by Mayor Harvie and Delta Council with the goal of investing in more sports, recreation and social health programs and amenities for the benefit and well-being of Delta families.
