Delta Achieves Carbon Neutrality Goals
Council received correspondence from the Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) Green Communities Committee congratulating the City on reaching its goal of achieving corporate carbon neutrality in 2018. The City has achieved carbon neutrality for seven consecutive years and has been awarded Level 4 recognition “Achievement of Carbon Neutrality” by the UBCM Green Communities Committee.

Seaquam Secondary School Students Request Plastic Bag Ban
Council received a presentation from Seaquam Secondary School students requesting a ban on plastic bags in the City of Delta. Council resolved that the City lead by example and take immediate steps to further reduce the use of single-use plastic items in Delta facilities and at community events. Council also approved sending a letter to the Province expressing the City's support for a province-wide ban on single-use plastic items. View the presentation and the staff report.

Enhancing Libraries in Delta
Council received a presentation from Fraser Valley Regional Library regarding possibilities for how to enhance Delta’s libraries in the future. Council referred the topic – including expanding the vision and future use of local libraries – to the Business Plan Workshop. Council also authorized staff to continue to take steps to upgrade and enhance Delta’s libraries. View the presentation and the staff report.

Shuttle Bus in Sunshine Hills
Council endorsed the recommendation that TransLink be requested to include the Sunshine Hills neighbourhood as a high priority for future transit service level improvements. A survey was distributed to residents of the Sunshine Hills neighbourhood in the summer of 2019, which indicated that 73% of the respondents were in favour of a community shuttle bus service in the area.
