Delta’s Agricultural Advisory Committee (AAC) Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school student residing in Delta. This scholarship is provided to assist students who wish to pursue post-secondary education geared to a career in an agricultural field. The scholarship is valued at $2,000 and is applied to a student's post-secondary studies (valid for all post-secondary institutions, including colleges, universities, technical and trade school programs, or any other career oriented coursework or program related to agriculture).
Eligibility and Scholarship Criteria
- Resident of Delta
- Grade 12 student at a Delta high school
- Has applied to attend a registered Canadian university, college or apprenticeship institution in a program that would lead directly to a career in agriculture, agricultural sciences or agri-business. This could include a wide range of programs and may include such fields as horticulture, animal husbandry, soil science, botany, etc.
- Consideration is given to:
- academic achievement
- letters of recommendation
- student’s active involvement and interest in agriculture; e.g., work on a farm participation in 4-H Club, science fair projects, etc.
- student’s involvement in agriculture, reasons for pursuing a career in agriculture and the intended course of study.
Scholarship Application Checklist
- Completed scholarship application form (next page)
- Two letters of recommendation
- An original, official high school (Grade 11 and 12) transcript (faxed & photocopied submissions will not be accepted)
- A typewritten statement describing involvement in agriculture or a related field, reasons for pursuing a career in agricultural and the school program or courses leading to this career.
Applications are typically accepted between November 1 and March 31. The deadline for 2022 has been extended until 4:30 pm on May 9, 2022. Awards are adjudicated on a competitive basis. All approved applicants will be notified in writing by June 15, 2022.
