The following are project updates regarding the construction works happening on 56 Street in Tsawwassen. We thank you for your patience as we continue to work on these important community projects.
56 Street Sanitary Sewer Upgrades
The City of Delta is installing a new sanitary main along 56 Street from 16 Avenue to View Crescent, continuing along View Crescent, and then back along 56 Street from View Crescent to 12 Avenue. Construction has been underway since February 2025, with an estimated completion by summer 2025.
The new sewer main will replace an aging sanitary main that has reached the end of its service life, designed to accommodate future growth in Tsawwassen and improve the community’s long-term infrastructure.
The 56 Street Sanitary Sewer project has now shifted to daytime construction (7 am - 7 pm). Work is currently happening at the intersection of 56 Street and 14B Avenue. Traffic personnel are in place, allowing for a minimum of one travel lane in each direction along 56 Street, and will remain in place until the evening of Thursday, June 19th.
Following completion at the intersection, sewer replacement will continue along View Crescent during daytime hours of 7 am – 7 pm, Monday through Friday.

56 Street Multi-Use Pathway (6 Avenue to Winskill Park)
Preliminary work for the 56 Street Multi-Use Pathway began in May 2025, with construction anticipated to follow in the summer. The pathway will be located along 56 Street between 6 Avenue and Winskill Park.
This project includes necessary tree removals along the construction area to allow for the installation of the new multi-use pathway. The current sidewalk has been damaged and uprooted; the new pathway will provide a safer and more accessible path for all users. To comply with environmental regulations, a Qualified Environmental Professional conducted a bird nesting study prior to construction, confirming that the City meets the necessary requirements.
The construction is currently out for tender, with bids expected in the coming week. The project aims for completion by fall 2025.
