The City of Delta is set to begin construction on a parking lot expansion to support critical health care and public safety services in the Civic Precinct.
Recent construction on the grounds of Delta Hospital has resulted in the loss of parking spots for Hospital staff, which is causing additional congestion for members of public looking to utilize services in the area.
The addition of approximately 70 spaces will relieve growing pressure on parking availability, supporting hospital patients, critical health care staff, and the Delta Police Department, while also ensuring public access to services in the Civic Precinct (including Ladner Leisure Centre, Discovery Centre, and City Hall).
The new parking lot is expected to cost $1.4 million, including contingencies, and work will begin this summer, following tax season, and conclude in the fall.
