New Memorial Park Washrooms Open to Public

The City of Delta is pleased to announce that the construction of the new Memorial Park washrooms is complete, with the upgraded facilities now open to the public.

This washroom replacement is part of an ongoing, multi-year program to replace and upgrade aging park facilities across the City, ensuring consistent architecture, vandalism resistance features, and amenities that meet the needs of our community.

“Memorial Park is a beloved community space and a vital hub of recreation in Ladner, and I’m glad to see these newly upgraded washrooms open for public use,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “This is another encouraging example of progress on our efforts to upgrade essential facilities across the City of Delta, as we continue to invest in the amenities and services that Deltans rely on. I want to extend my thanks to the workers who made this project a success and to our residents for their patience during construction.”

Along with upgrades to the building, the new Memorial Park washrooms include modernized features and increased accessibility standards, such as:

  • a new vandalism resistant washroom building with four single occupancy universal stalls;
  • an accessible stall with automated door opener;
  • a water bottle filling station on the building’s exterior; and
  • stainless steel benches inside each of the four stalls, allowing the washrooms to serve as a changing space for the adjacent splash park.

These upgrades come as the result of a detailed condition assessment of all park washroom and fieldhouse structures in 2021, during which the Memorial Park washrooms were marked as a high priority for replacement.
