Delta Invites Public To Name New Virtual Assistant

The City of Delta has launched the beta testing phase for its new virtual assistant on Delta.ca and is inviting residents to have their say in selecting a name for the chatbot powered by OpenAI.

The virtual assistant has been designed to improve user experience on the City of Delta website, streamlining navigation and improving accessibility. With the chatbot now up and running in beta phase, City staff are looking to the community for input in choosing a name for this feature.

"Our new virtual assistant will play a pivotal role in enhancing the user experience on our website and the naming contest presents a unique opportunity for residents to get involved,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. "Our community’s creativity and input will play a crucial role in selecting a name that reflects the spirit of Delta and the purpose of this new chatbot."

The naming contest will run from May 2 to May 17, providing residents with the chance to submit their suggestions directly on the City’s website. To ensure a diverse range of submissions, the contest will be conducted in two phases. Following the initial submission of name suggestions, the public will have the opportunity to vote on a shortlist of finalists.

Residents are encouraged to visit Delta.ca/Chatbot to learn more about the naming contest and submit their name ideas. Additionally, they can explore the virtual assistant to experience its features and functionalities firsthand.
