The use of fireworks—except with a permit issued by Delta Fire—is banned year-round in the City of Delta. Without a permit, the sale, possession, transportation, and use of fireworks are prohibited throughout the City.
Since September 2024, the City of Delta Council has adopted a bylaw amendment that prohibits the use of fireworks within 500 metres of livestock properties, reinforcing community and animal safety.
Anyone found in possession of fireworks or contravening the Firework Bylaw faces a $500 fine.
Residents who wish to obtain a permit for fireworks use are required to submit their application online at least 10 days before the planned event. Applicants must be 19 years of age or older and provide:
- A Fireworks Safety Plan
- A letter from the homeowner giving permission to detonate fireworks
- Proof of comprehensive general liability insurance with a minimum of $5,000,000.00 per occurrence
- For questions on how to obtain a permit, contact businesslicences@delta.ca
To submit a complaint, use the DeltaConnect app and report under “Bylaw Enforcement.”
