The use of fireworks—except with a permit issued by Delta Fire—remains banned year-round in the City of Delta. This means that without a permit, the sale, possession, transportation, and use of fireworks is prohibited throughout the City.
At the September 23 Regular Meeting, Delta Council adopted a bylaw amendment that prohibits the use of fireworks within 500 meters of livestock properties.
In addition, anyone found to be in possession of fireworks, or in contravention of the firework bylaw, is subject to a fine of $500.
Those who wish to obtain a permit for the use of fireworks can submit an application online. Applications must be made at a least 10 days prior to the fireworks event by someone 19 years of age or older. The issue of a permit also requires a Fireworks Safety Plan, a letter from the homeowner giving permission to detonate fireworks, and proof of comprehensive general liability insurance with a minimum of $5,000,000.00 per occurrence.
