News Release: Council to Receive Community Feedback on Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall Application

Delta Council will receive the results of the public consultation for the proposed Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall Site redevelopment at its Regular Meeting on April 14, 2025. The consultation phase, which ran from February 4 to March 16, provided an opportunity for residents to learn about the proposal and share their feedback.

During the consultation period, the City mailed information to over 12,000 Tsawwassen households, published print advertisements in local newspapers, and shared updates through social media. More than 900 people attended three in-person consultation events, and the City received 1,458 completed feedback forms — including responses from approximately 10% of Tsawwassen households.

Participants were invited to share what they like and don’t like about the proposal. Many respondents highlighted positive features such as the proposed new library, the inclusion of housing, support for the local economy, and retaining space for Thrifty’s Foods. At the same time, concerns were raised about building height, traffic impacts, overall density, and the potential strain on schools and healthcare services.

Additional feedback was received through email correspondence and four petitions, all of which have been submitted to Council in accordance with the Council Procedure Bylaw and are available for public review at City Hall.

Through this report, staff are sharing the results of the consultation process with Council, the applicant and the community for information. The applicant will then have the opportunity to respond to the comments and refine their proposal. The Council Report and full results of the community consultation program are available at: https://delta.civicweb.net/document/237772.
