The City of Delta, in collaboration with Metro Vancouver, is proud to announce that more than 2,300 hectares of the Burns Bog Ecological Conservancy Area and Delta Nature Reserve have recently been added to Canada’s national database of protected and conserved areas.
This formal designation recognizes the global ecological significance of Burns Bog—the largest raised bog on the west coast of the Americas, that plays a critical role in carbon storage, climate regulation, and biodiversity conservation.
By protecting and conserving Burns Bog, the City and our partners are making a meaningful contribution toward Canada’s commitment to conserve 30% of its lands and waters by 2030. This milestone reflects our efforts to protect natural ecosystems and promote long-term environmental sustainability.
