Delta Council has received the City’s draft 2026 Budget, which prioritizes investing in vital infrastructure and amenities while keeping tax increases low for residents.
“The 2026 Budget is designed to meet the needs of our growing community, maintaining and upgrading the infrastructure that residents rely on every day while keeping tax increases to a minimum,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “From safer roads to improved recreation facilities and new community amenities, these investments reflect what we heard from residents and demonstrate our commitment to building a stronger, more resilient city. We look forward to hearing from residents if the proposed budget reflects what matters most to the community.”
The draft 2026 Budget, presented at the October 6, 2025, Regular Meeting, continues to advance Council’s priorities by putting the infrastructure in place to support sustainable growth and by upgrading outdoor and indoor facilities to offer best-in-class recreational opportunities. The draft budget proposes over 100 projects, including improvements to residential roads and sidewalks, industrial area bus shelters, agricultural infrastructure, sports fields and courts, and playground renewals. The single largest investment continues to be the rebuild of the Winskill Aquatic & Fitness Centre, a multi-year project that will provide a modern and accessible facility.
In order to maintain exceptional City services and deliver on this year’s priorities, a 2.9 percent property tax increase is proposed. Operational efficiencies and new revenue generated by community growth has helped to keep tax increases at a minimum. For the average home assessed at $1.3 million in 2025, this represents an increase of about $8 per month in property taxes and $4 in utility fees.
The draft budget and feedback form are now available for review at letstalk.delta.ca/2026-Budget. Between October 7 and 30, residents will have multiple opportunities to learn more and share their feedback online and in-person. Two open houses are scheduled as follows:
• Wednesday, October 29: North Delta Recreation Centre Gymnasium (4:30–6:30 pm)
• Thursday, October 30: City Hall Foyer (4:30–6:30 pm)
