Break out your easels, dust off your lenses, and renew your design software licences because the Community Banner Contest returns to Delta in 2026!
Through May 1, 2026, local artists are invited to show what Delta looks like through their eyes by submitting a community banner design. The contest is a great way for residents to champion Delta’s natural beauty, unique and diverse culture, and storied heritage. The banners determined to best represent Delta in their respective categories will be proudly displayed throughout the community over the course of the summer.
” The Community Banner Contest gives us all a chance to look at our home through the unique perspective of our neighbours,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. ”Every year we look forward to seeing a new batch of submissions, created by people who love their community. Whether you are a seasoned artist, or a keen novice, I encourage residents to enter the contest and tell your own story about what Delta means to you.”
Entrants will submit their artwork to be considered for the following categories:
- Delta Culture & Heritage (open category)
- Discover Delta (open category)
- Diversity in Delta (open category)
- Emerging Artists (ages 13 – 17 years old)
- Budding Artists (up to 12 years old)
Submissions will be judged on a variety of different criteria including originality, creativity, uniqueness, presentation, and commitment to the theme. Artists are invited to use different mediums, including photography, digital art, collage, painting, drawing, and print making. Please note that the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create generative fill or fully generated images is prohibited.
The winning banners will see their designs fly on selected poles throughout Delta this summer, along with an honorarium and a full-sized banner of their design.
