News Release: Ladner Village Revitalization Projects Advancing in 2026

The 2026 Ladner Village Revitalization Action Plan was presented to Delta Council at the February 23 Regular Meeting, outlining updates for current projects and the work being undertaken in preparation for upcoming improvements.

“The Ladner Village Revitalization Action Plan has brought a renewed energy in showcasing all that Delta has to offer,” said George V. Harvie, Mayor of Delta. “I’m proud of the advancements the City has made on key projects and initiatives in the Village and the waterfront, and I look forward to engaging with the public on upcoming improvements to the area, including the reconfiguration of Chisholm Street and overall branding for Ladner Village.”

In 2026, the following projects and activities will be advanced in Ladner Village as part of the multi-year revitalization plan:

  • Council has approved the detailed design for the Chisholm Street Wharf, and construction is now underway. The project is anticipated to be complete by late spring 2026 and will include new trail connections, seating, lighting, accessibility improvements, and a licensed concession operated by Backporch, creating a more welcoming and connected waterfront space. In celebration of FIFA World Cup 2026™, daily programming is planned at the Chisholm Street Wharf Soccer Fan Zone.
  • A one-way road concept has been developed for Chisholm Street to improve the waterfront experience and support walking and cycling. Community consultation will begin this month, with a summary of feedback to be presented to Council at a future meeting. The early design work is underway to inform long-term planning.
  • Earlier this year the City issued a Request for Proposals for a mixed-use tourism accommodation development on a consolidated 1.2-acre City-owned site in Ladner Village, assembled through property acquisitions to support waterfront revitalization. This process did not result in any viable proposals from the five proponents that previously submitted Expression of Interests, however the City continues to advance key steps to ensure the site is positioned for future redevelopment. In the interim, the City is looking to activate the site through a pop-up park and programming.
  • Recent improvements to the Elliott Street Wharf include a floating kayak launch, ramp upgrades, and expanded programming and economic activity such as fish sales, rentals, tours, and food trucks. Temporary signage will be installed to improve visibility and wayfinding, with permanent signage planned.
  • Activities and celebrations in Ladner Village continue to grow, including the popular Ladner Village Market, which will operate under For the Love of Local Foundation, in partnership with The Collective Markets, for the next three years. The Bridge Street Pop-Up Park will also relocate to the City-owned site at Delta Street and Chisholm Street.
  • A distinct brand identity for Ladner Village is a key part of revitalization efforts. Under the theme Shaped by the River, the City will engage the community on proposed brand concepts. Feedback will help inform the final design, which will be presented to Council for consideration at a future meeting.

These projects and initiatives will bring the City closer to further revitalization of Ladner Village. 2026 will see the completion of the Chisholm Street Wharf Project while continuing to reinforce and build upon Ladner Village’s unique identity.
