The City of Delta is launching its annual Beat the Heat campaign. With Environment and Climate Change Canada’s forecast of hotter than normal temperatures and potential record-setting heat, this initiative provides residents with essential information and tools to stay safe as we enter the warmest months of the year. While heat affects everyone, this campaign is critical for those at higher risk of heat-related illness, including seniors, young children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions.
The City reminds residents to watch for signs of heat exhaustion—such as heavy sweating, dizziness, and extreme thirst. Call 9-1-1 immediately if someone shows signs of heat stroke. If you need a place to cool off, our air-conditioned city facilities, libraries, or local spray parks are open for you to visit.
The City also recently launched Alertable—a new public emergency notification system. By signing up, you will receive real-time notifications during extreme heat events, allowing you to plan ahead and find shade or cooling stations quickly.
