Celebrate Safely: Fireworks are Prohibited Without a Permit in Delta

No Fireworks in Delta poster

This fall, the City of Delta reminds residents that selling, possessing, transporting or setting off fireworks without a valid permit from Delta Fire & Emergency Services is prohibited year-round.

Fireworks can cause injuries, fires, and property damage. Sudden, loud explosions can also distress neighbours, pets, livestock and wildlife.

Anyone selling, possessing or setting off fireworks without a permit may face a $500 fine and confiscation of their fireworks.

Fireworks are also prohibited within 500 metres of livestock properties, a restriction introduced in September 2024 to strengthen community and animal safety.

Reporting Illegal Fireworks

Residents can report illegal fireworks through:

  • The Delta Connect app, under “Bylaw Enforcement”
  • A service request through delta.ca
  • The Delta Police non-emergency line at 604-946-4411

If there is an immediate danger, call 911.

Permit Information

Fireworks permits are subject to safety, insurance and other requirements. Residents who wish to obtain a permit for fireworks use are required to submit their application online at least 10 business days before the planned event.
