Spring Clean-Up

Spring Clean-Up - CANCELLED

In response to COVID-19, Spring Clean-Up has been cancelled for spring 2020. We are taking all efforts to ensure Delta’s collection contractor can maintain regular garbage, green waste and recycling collection during this time. There is no plan to reschedule Spring Clean-Up this year.

While residential drop-off and waste removal services may still be available, we encourage residents to store bulky items and other take-back recycling materials at this time. As ordered by our Provincial Health Officer, we need to follow physical distancing including staying home and limiting errands.

The City of Vancouver Landfill is discouraging non-essential residential loads at their facility so they can focus their efforts on maintaining access and service for commercial loads. They have indicated that residents bringing material, either garbage or recycling, should expect delays. For more information, visit the City of Vancouver’s landfill webpage.

Other recycling drop-off facilities including Bottle Depots and Return-It Centres in Delta may also be limiting access or material drop-off at this time.

If you do need to make an essential trip we recommend contacting the facility in advance for current operational updates.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns via email at talk@delta.ca or by phone at 604-946-4141.

Organize Your Clean-Up

recyclecoach-logoSet reminders for your spring clean-up collection date, and use the material search to find out where to take items not accepted for pick up! Download Delta's Recycling App for Apple or Android smartphones and tablets.

Failure to comply with any of the program guidelines may result in material not being collected. Residents are responsible for removal of material not collected.

  • Material must not be placed out any sooner than the weekend prior to scheduled collection
  • The amount of accepted material cannot exceed a pick-up truck load (8' x 4' x 3' or 2.5m x 1.2m x 1m)
  • Items must be able to be handled by two people – oversize items are not accepted
  • All items must be bagged or bundled – loose material is not accepted

What's Accepted?

Ensure only accepted material is placed out for collection. Collection crews will not sort through unaccepted material.

If the item is still in good working condition, consider donating it to a local charity. Contact the BC Recycling Hotline for local donation options: 604-732-9253 or bcrecycles.ca.
