The City of Delta is proud to announce the start of the Neighbourhood Traffic Management and Crosswalks Project, in alignment with its commitment to enhancing safety and accessibility for all residents.
This project focuses on upgrading three key crosswalks in Delta, ensuring safer pedestrian crossings.
The crosswalks scheduled for enhancement are:
- 6 Avenue and Milsom Wynd
- 62 Street and Holly Park Drive
- 112 Street and 88 Avenue
These upgrades will include streetlighting improvements and the installation of updated signage, pavement markings, and pedestrian-activated flashing beacons, enhancing visibility and safety of pedestrians.
Improving crosswalks is an important step towards achieving Delta’s Vision Zero Strategy. Developed in 2020, the Vision Zero Strategy aims to reduce fatalities and serious collisions, improve connections to schools and community services, and address needs for older adults and vulnerable road users.
“We are dedicated to providing our residents with the infrastructure they need to feel safe and supported in their daily activities,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “By investing in projects like the Neighbourhood Traffic Management and Crosswalks initiative, we are taking proactive steps towards achieving our Vision Zero goals and ensuring the safety of all road users.”
Residents are advised that during construction, single-lane alternating traffic will be implemented between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with street parking restricted within the work zone. The City of Delta appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents during this period.
