Water is essential to our daily lives. We use it to cook, to clean, to nourish our bodies and to keep our gardens green and growing. However, it is important to use water appropriately and efficiently.
In British Columbia, we use 30 per cent more water than residents in other provinces. In Delta, residents and businesses consume approximately 700 litres of water per person per day. That's the equivalent of about four oil drums of water each day. In the summer months, 50 per cent of home water is used for lawn and garden watering.
Together, we can work to change these numbers and use water more efficiently. Delta has a number of water conservation initiatives to help.
