Environmental Stewardship - Ready, Set, Pull!

Closing Date

Spring is fast approaching and Delta is inviting everyone who lives, works or plays in our city to volunteer for our Community Weed Pull events! Amazing progress has been made and we hope to continue the trend. Check out the before and after photos!

We will be removing English ivy from:

Ladner Harbour ParkMay 6, 10:00am-12:00pm. Meet at gravel parking lot by picnic shelter.
Pebble Hill ParkMay 13, 10:00am-12:00pm.  Meet at parking lot on Milsom Wynd.
North Delta Community ParkMay 27, 10:00am-12:00pm.  Meet at 112 Street parking lot.

Why is ivy being removed? Check out this video: Invasive Species - English Ivy - YouTube

Snacks, gloves, equipment, and training will be provided, so even if you have never done a weed pull before, you are more than welcome to come! Delta will also be offering prizes to those who come out for more than one event. Last year 3 participants received personalized mugs as thank you gifts! If you can’t make it to the three different sites during spring, don’t worry; more weed pulls in each of Delta’s three communities will be scheduled in the fall.

Community weed pulls are an awesome way for you to learn about our natural ecosystems and take an active role in their protection. High school students: participation counts as part of your volunteer work hours!
