Delta has an expanding business environment with major industries rooted in agriculture, manufacturing, transportation and warehousing, construction and retail. The industrial lands at Tilbury and Annacis Island are two of the largest industrial areas in Metro Vancouver and industrial areas throughout Delta are currently undergoing significant growth.
Delta is home to an educated workforce with over 60% of the working population having acquired post-secondary education. With a total population of 102,000 (2016 census), Delta’s population is growing at a rate of 3.3%.
Advantageously located, Delta is connected by road, waterways, and by air through Boundary Bay airport. Highway 17 connects all three communities in Delta and provides access to BC Ferries terminal in Tsawwassen, the largest container terminal in Canada: Global Container Terminal Deltaport, and the largest coal terminal on the west coast of North America: Westshore Terminals.
