Alternative Approval Process - 8312 River Road (Bylaw No. 3269)

 

The City of Delta is seeking elector approval to lease dedicated park land at 8312 River Road (only southern portion of approximately 3,312 m2).

Council may proceed with the adoption of Delta Park Lease Bylaw No. 3269 unless at least 10% of the electors of the City of Delta sign an elector response form indicating their opposition. Council has determined that 10% of eligible electors within the City of Delta is 7,573.

Copies of Delta Park Lease Bylaw No. 3269 and related documents are available for public inspection below and at the Office of the City Clerk, 4500 Clarence Taylor Crescent, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays beginning August 3, 2023 to September 11, 2023. 

Who can sign an elector response form?

Only eligible electors of the City of Delta may sign and submit an elector response form. Eligible electors must meet all of the following qualifications:

  • a Canadian citizen;
  • an individual who is age 18 or older;
  • a resident of British Columbia for at least six months;
  • a Delta resident or owner of property within Delta; and
  • not disqualified from voting by the Local Government Act or any other act.

A non-resident property elector must meet all of the following qualification:

  • not entitled to register as a resident elector for the City of Delta;
  • a registered owner of real property within the City of Delta;
  • a Canadian citizen;
  • an individual who is age 18 or older;
  • has been a resident of British Columbia for at least six months; and
  • not disqualified from voting by the Local Government Act or any other act.

What do I do if I am not opposed?

If you are not opposed to the lease, no action is required.

What do I do if I am opposed?

If you are opposed to the lease, complete an elector response form and submit the originally signed elector response form to the City Clerk at Delta City Hall (4500 Clarence Taylor Crescent, 2nd Floor, Office of the City Clerk) before 4:30 p.m. on September 11, 2023. The form must have an original signature; photocopied, faxed, imaged, or emailed signed forms cannot be accepted.
