New Multi-Use Pathway Coming to Ladner

The City of Delta is planning a new multi-use pathway in Ladner, supporting the City’s goals to expand pedestrian and cycling routes in the community.

The new pathway will be located on the north side of River Road, running from Ferry Road to Elliot Street and providing an improved connection between Marina Gardens and Ladner Village.

Part of continuing efforts to improve accessibility and safety around the City, this project is co-funded by a $581,000 grant from TransLink through their Bicycle Infrastructure Capital Cost Share Program. The proposed improvements include a 3.5 metre wide asphalt multi-use pathway, grassed boulevard, street trees, LED street lighting, pavement markings, and related signage.

“Adding a new multi-use pathway along River Road will have significant benefits for the surrounding community, improving safety for road users and encouraging more people to choose active forms of transportation,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “I’m grateful to TransLink for providing funding to help us build this important infrastructure and create a more connected community.”

For those interested in learning more about this project, a public information meeting will be held on May 16, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Ladner Community Centre, or residents can visit letstalk.delta.ca/river-rd-mup.

This River Road route was identified for pedestrian and cycling improvements in Delta’s Official Community Plan, as well as Delta’s Cycling Master Plan. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in summer 2024.
