2023 Community Banner Contest

The City of Delta is proud to present the 9th annual Community Banner Contest, a competition for Delta residents to create a street banner that will raise awareness and promote Delta’s natural beauty, culture, and diversity while engaging the community and showcasing local artists of all ages.

“I am thrilled to launch the 2023 Community Banner Contest — an annual tradition that highlights the talent and diversity of our community,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “This year we’ve included new categories that will expand the possibilities and broaden our imaginations for what can be achieved through arts and culture in Delta. Good luck to everyone entering the contest and I can’t wait to see what our community inspires us with.”

Submissions will be accepted for the following categories:

  • Delta Culture and Heritage (open category)
Depict Delta's vibrant culture or heritage from your lens.
  • Discover Delta (open category)
Depict the uniqueness or hidden gems found throughout Delta.
  • Diversity in Delta (open category)
Depict the beauty of diversity in Delta.
  • Emerging Artists (ages 13 to 17 years old)
  • Budding Artists (up to 12 years old)

A volunteer adjudication committee of community members, including local artists will jury the submissions.

The winning design from each category will be displayed on City of Delta street banners the following year. An honorarium and a street banner with the winner’s design will be awarded to each winner.

The contest deadline has been extended to December 6, 2023. To enter, participants must complete the entry and waiver form, as well as provide a written statement about your submission and how it relates to the banner theme (maximum 500 words), and a brief biography (maximum 350 words). Only online submissions will be accepted.
