City of Delta reaches new two-year agreement with CUPE Local 454

The City of Delta is pleased to announce it has reached a two-year agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 454.

The new two-year agreement includes a 4.5% increase for 2023, a 4.0% increase for 2024, and a one-time inflationary support payment. The previous contract expired December 31, 2022.

"I am pleased to learn that the City of Delta and CUPE Local 454 have reached a new collective agreement that includes fair wage increases and recognizes the inflationary challenges facing our employees," said Mayor George V. Harvie. "The City is proud to have a positive relationship with CUPE Local 454 that allowed us to work together to provide staff with adequate pay in line with the region. Thank you to the bargaining teams for their collective efforts."

“We are pleased to have a new contract in place that better supports workers and helps to address the affordability challenges they face and ensures improved service delivery for residents and businesses,” says CUPE 454 President Sam Abulail “We look forward to continuing to work with the City to provide quality public services in Delta.”

In addition to the wage increases, the new collective agreement contains dental and extended health premium improvements and market adjustments for specialized trade positions.
