Social Story: Visiting the Delta Archives

Is this your first time at a heritage program?

Read about what you can expect when visiting the Delta Archives for the first time.

What’s Happening

I am going to learn about Delta’s history. I will examine records that teach me about the history of Delta.

Where

I arrive at 4450 Clarance Taylor Crescent.

Easy access parking is in the roundabout, and I take the stairs or ramp to the main entrance.

I walk inside the main building and walk in the door with the big Archives sign.

Who

Staff will be at the desk to attend to my question or research interest.

Sensory Expectations

The Archives is a quiet place for people to study, and I can ask staff to close the door if it is too noisy in the gallery.

Safety Rules

  • I will wash my hands prior to examining the records to make sure the records are not affected by the oils on my hands.

  • I will keep the records in the original order that I found them in the file.

  • I will keep food and drink away from the records.

  • I will take notes on scrap paper with a pencil.

Feelings & Coping

I might be unsure of where to start my research. I can ask the staff for guidance.

Closure

I found a lot of information on what I was researching.

I can’t wait to come back with more questions.
