Culture Days Delta Community Art Contest

• All artworks must be original and made by the applicant. 
• We only accept online submissions. Collages, paintings, drawings, and print submissions should be photographed and submitted through the online form below
• The deadline for submissions is midnight on Friday, September 4, 2026. 

• All submissions will be reviewed by City of Delta Staff. The top 10 submissions will be displayed at the Culture Days Provincial Launch Event at Harris Barn on September 20, 2026 from 10am-2pm. 
• Top 10 submissions will then be displayed at Douglas J. Husband Discovery Centre, North Delta Centre for the Arts, and Tsawwassen Art Centre from September 25-October 23, 2026. Shortly after, votes will be counted and the top three submissions will be contacted directly. 
• The City of Delta has the sole discretion to reject any artwork(s) at any time prior to or during the exhibition. 
• Please no nudity or suggestive content.

• Artwork must be ready to hang and/or display:
  • Artwork not ready for installation may not be installed. The City of Delta is not responsible for any damage to artwork(s) and/or framing if any Artwork(s) require additional hardware during installation.
  • 2D artwork must have hanging hardware securely attached; D-ring hangers installed within the top ¼ of the artwork are recommended.
  • Unframed canvases must have neat and professional edges.
  • Artwork(s) must be clearly labelled on the back/bottom with artist name and artwork title corresponding to the information submitted on the application form.
• No Fees to display 
• All art sales must go through the artist directly 
• Artwork may encompass a broad range of 2D and 3D artwork including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, mixed-media, sculpture, ceramics, textile, and carving.

At this time, we are not equipped to support audio visual or digital based media artwork.

• An opening reception for the exhibition of the top 10 submissions will occur on November 20, 2026, from 5:30-7pm at North Delta Centre for the Arts. Prizes will be awarded for the top three submissions. All submitting artists, their friends and family, and the wider community are invited to this celebration with all submissions available to view on a rotating display at in the theatre.
• The top 10 submissions will be displayed at Douglas J. Husband Discovery Centre, Tsawwassen Arts Centre, and North Delta Centre for the Arts from November 2026-through September 2028

• Deliver all artworks.
  • The top 10 applicants will be notified of their application status by October 26 with directions on artwork drop-off, which will occur by appointment.
• Pick up artwork within a week of the show’s closing.
• Prepare work for installation as outlined in Submission Requirements.
• Coordinate any sales, if desired directly with the client. 

• Determine where the artworks will be shown in the Gallery.
• Provide secure storage for artworks prior to install.
• Install the artwork and provide plinths/hanging hardware.

• The City of Delta is not liable to the artist or anyone for the loss of, or damage to, or destruction of an artwork while on display.
• Artists may choose to insure their artwork for any loss, theft, or damage for the duration of the exhibition.

All information provided under the submission is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (BC) and shall only be withheld from release if an exemption from release is permitted by the Act. The artist shall retain copyright of the submitted documents. While every precaution will be taken to prevent the loss or damage of submissions, the City and its agents shall not be liable for any loss or damage, however caused.
