Deltassist to Manage Little House in New Agreement with the City of Delta

The City of Delta is pleased to announce it has entered into a five-year licence agreement with Deltassist for the use of the Little House in Tsawwassen for substance use counselling services and to facilitate recovery support group meetings.

Previously managed by Phoenix Drug and Alcohol Recovery and Education Society and the Little House Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Society, this new agreement ensures that Deltassist can provide these vital provincially-funded support and recovery services at the Little House. This also opens up space at Deltassist’s Ladner location for other important programs, such as seniors counselling and newcomer services.

“Deltassist is a trusted, long-time community partner, and I’m pleased to see them manage these critical support services at the Little House,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “It’s essential to maintain free substance use counselling services in our community to support residents in need and their families.”

“Deltassist is very pleased to enter into this agreement with the City of Delta to provide substance use services in Tsawwassen, reducing distance and mobility barriers, and to provide a stable home for the recovery support groups that have assisted many people in Tsawassen and are an important piece of their recovery. Deltassist meets people where they are at in their journey of recovery with compassion, caring and kindness” said Julie Chadwick, Executive Director of Deltassist.

This expansion strengthens Deltassist's presence in Delta’s community, furthering their mission to support all residents. Deltassist will begin occupying the Little House on September 1, 2024, allowing time for a smooth transition. During this interim period, existing recovery groups will continue to access the Little House for meetings which will continue and be supported by Deltassist moving forward.

Rebuilt in 2012 following a fire with contributions from the community and recovery groups, the Little House has long been a cornerstone for recovery meetings in the community. This 1,800 square foot facility offers a counselling office and space for workshops and educational sessions.

Since 1985, Deltassist has been offering free substance use services to the City of Delta, supporting both individuals who use substances and those affected by others' substance use. As a co-chair of the Delta Community Action Team, Deltassist plays a key role in addressing the toxic drug supply crisis in Delta, providing free Naloxone kits and training to the community as requested.
