Geotechnical Work along section of the Millennium Trail for the Fraser River Tunnel Project

Notice of Geotechnical Work for Fraser River Tunnel Project causing temporary closures to Millennium Trail

The Transportation Investment Corporation (TI Corp), on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, will carry out geotechnical site investigations to aid in the design development of the replacement George Massey Tunnel. This work includes riverbed drilling at several sites from a barge. In addition to in-river drilling, weekend closures of the Millennium Trail will take place for onshore investigations adjacent to the trail. 

What to Expect in Delta

📍 Location: Adjacent to Millennium Trail (east side of Highway 99 at 6155 River Road)
📅 Dates: January 20 to March 9, 2025
Hours: Primarily 7 AM – 7 PM, with occasional work extending beyond 7 PM

To ensure public safety, temporary trail stoppages and closures may be required along the Millennium Trail. Signage will be posted in advance, and traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist trail users. Brush clearing and tree trimming may also take place as part of this work.
