With high temperatures expected, a heat warning has been issued by Environment Canada covering much of the Metro Vancouver region.
Temperatures are predicted to remain high through August 12, beginning to cool down overnight into August 13.
In the meantime, Delta residents are encouraged to take steps to cool down during the heat warning period, if needed.
Delta has identified numerous cooling sites throughout the community, including outdoor drinking fountains, water parks, as well as air-conditions recreation and community centres. A map of these facilities, and further information on staying cool in rising temperatures can be found at delta.ca/beattheheat.
Residents can also call the Beat the Heat Hotline at 604-946-3200.
If you or someone you know exhibits signs of heat illness, please call 9-1-1.
