The City of Delta is marking Welcoming Week 2025 with a series of Community Pop-Up Sessions for newcomers and a new Pathways to Delta initiative that highlights the City’s commitment to inclusion, workforce diversity, and building a community where everyone feels at home.
Taking place September 12–21, 2025, Welcoming Week is a global initiative that shines a spotlight on communities that embrace inclusivity and belonging. In keeping with this year’s theme, Stories We Share, the Pathways to Delta initiative features the voices of City staff who are immigrants themselves, sharing their personal stories and the journeys that brought them to Delta.
As part of the celebrations, the Delta Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) and Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL) will host Celebrating Newcomer Voices in partnership with the City on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the George Mackie Library. This free event will feature storytelling, community-building activities, and opportunities for participants to share experiences and celebrate belonging.
The City will also host Community Pop-Up Sessions, where staff will provide newcomers with information about local resources, services, and programs:
- Monday, September 15 | 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Sungod Recreation Centre
- Wednesday, September 17 | 3:30 – 6:30 pm at South Delta Recreation Centre
- Thursday, September 18 | 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Ladner Leisure Centre
