The City of Delta has surpassed its second-year housing goal, achieving 1,146 net new housing units compared to the target of 1,098. This accomplishment shows Delta's ongoing commitment to addressing the housing crisis and ensuring sustainable growth throughout the community.
Delta's progress between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2025, reflects the City's comprehensive approach to meeting the Province's Housing Target Order. Since receiving the mandate in 2023, Delta has implemented policy changes, streamlined development processes, and prioritized building a diverse range of housing across the City.
"Exceeding our second-year housing target is another significant milestone for Delta," said Mayor George V. Harvie. "It highlights our commitment to providing the homes our community needs and the hard work that has gone into streamlining processes and creating new opportunities. Delta remains a leader, showing we can achieve provincial goals while upholding our community's values."
The housing units completed over the past two years include apartments, townhomes, single-detached homes, and below-market rentals, offering a range of options for Delta residents. This achievement builds on Delta's first-year success, when the City exceeded its initial target of 514 units by delivering 561.
Delta's housing progress has been supported by key initiatives, including adopting a housing-focused Official Community Plan, enabling Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing on residential lots, and securing $14.2 million in federal Housing Accelerator Fund support.
The City will continue to work towards building 3,607 net new housing units in five years, while also implementing measures to support anticipated housing growth over the next 20 years.
