A new Coast-to-Coast Trail connecting Centennial Beach to Fred Gingell Park will move forward this summer and a 12-hole disc golf course will become a permanent feature in Diefenbaker Park following Delta Council’s decision at the May 11, 2026 Regular Meeting.
“The City of Delta is proud to partner with the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen to deliver a dynamic new community amenity through the Coast-to-Coast Trail, and we look forward to continuing the long history of disc golf in Tsawwassen, establishing a permanent home for the sport at Diefenbaker Park,” said George V. Harvie, Mayor of Delta. “Together, we are creating new opportunities for residents to experience Delta’s incredible parks and neighbourhoods through the advancing of these community-driven projects."
A combined engagement program for the projects was conducted from February 3 to March 2, 2026, generating 212 feedback forms for the Coast-to-Coast Trail plan and 312 for the Diefenbaker Disc Golf Course pilot. Key findings from the engagement are outlined below and available in the Council report here.
Coast-to-Coast Trail
There was support for the Coast-to-Coast Trail plan with 76.4% liking the overall direction. Feedback was generally focused on improving elements related to safety, connectivity, accessibility, wayfinding, and shared use considerations. Suggestions for signage, trail surfacing and adjustments to the route to reduce impact on the forested area of Pebble Hill Park will be incorporated through the implementation period. The project will be delivered in phases in partnership with the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen, with initial trail improvements in Pebble Hill Park anticipated to begin in summer 2026.
Diefenbaker Disc Golf Course Pilot Project
Comments on the addition of the course to the park were also generally supportive. The 12-hole disc golf course was introduced as a pilot project in spring 2025 and many of the players and park users who provided comments view it as an accessible addition that enhances recreational variety at Diefenbaker Park. Based on comments received, staff will make changes to the course layout, realigning tee and basket locations to improve sightlines and adding signage to address safety concerns identified during the engagement process.
