Delta Council approved the final version of the Annieville Lions Park Master Plan at the December 8 Regular Meeting, with the next step now being the selection of a consultant team for detailed design and preparation for construction in fall 2026.
“Annieville Park has played an important role in shaping the history of our community and we’re going to ensure it creates new memories into the future,” says Mayor George V. Harvie. “This is a park used by families to gather, a place where you can enjoy a ball game, stay active on the sport courts, or simply walk in nature. It’s a park that belongs to the neighbourhood and that’s why we’ve listened carefully. The refinements of the plan are reflective of our community, as we work to make this jewel shine even brighter.”
Highlights of the plan include:
- Increased accessibility throughout the park, including a barrier-free path network connecting 112 Street to 114 Street and linking all major areas.
- A central park hub with a new fenced spray park, modern washroom/fieldhouse building, outdoor fitness area and a multi-use games area featuring tennis, basketball, ball-hockey, futsal, and mini hockey.
- A community plaza with a new picnic shelter, flexible space for events and a new accessible overlook deck with views of Bob Bunnett Field.
- Improvements to Bob Bunnett Ball Field and the upper ball diamond.
During the public engagement process, several recurring themes were raised, and the feedback has been incorporated into the updated Master Plan. This included a focus on tree retention and water filtration, programming preferences for the multi-use games area, prioritising needed amenities in the washroom fieldhouse building, additional seating opportunities throughout the park, field upgrades, and barrier free routes across the site to all park amenities.
The 2026 Financial Plan includes a budget of $7 million for the project. Additional information on the implementation and construction schedule will be available in the spring following the detailed design work.
