At 9:09 this morning, Delta Fire was dispatched to a structure fire on Alaska Way. Both Delta Fire and Surrey Fire crews responded to the incident and have brought the fire under control, but continue working to fully extinguish it. Delta Fire has approximately 30 firefighters and nine fire apparatus on scene, in addition to six fire apparatus from Surrey.
There have been no reports of any injuries or missing occupants and the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
Metro Vancouver is aware of the situation and monitoring air quality. At present, residents are asked to avoid the area and are encouraged to take standard precautions if they are impacted by the smoke, including closing windows and staying indoors.
