The Westham Island Bridge reopened to vehicle traffic this evening, restoring access to the mainland for Westham Island residents and businesses.
The City of Delta is grateful to TransLink for their diligent work in repairing the bridge and reopening the crossing to vehicle traffic. While the bridge is now open, repair work continues, meaning that the navigation channel remains closed to marine traffic until further notice.
With a reliable crossing to Westham Island restored, the City of Delta's large and small barge services have now concluded. We extend our thanks to Mad Props Marine and JJM Construction for their assistance in running these operations over the past two months.
The water taxi, temporary shuttle, and Evo services provided by TransLink throughout the closure have also concluded.
Traffic control will remain on site at the bridge until the end of the month.
