Before You Apply

• Do I need to live in Delta to apply?

  No, you do not need to live in Delta, although preference will be given to Delta residents.

• Do I need to be bilingual?

  No, however another language is an asset.

• How do I apply?

  All applications must be submitted online and applicants are required to complete and pass an online test. A resumé is not required, but may be uploaded and will be considered an asset. 

  Due to the volume of applications, only successful applicants will be contacted. 

• Do I need to be available for multiple voting days?

  Yes, election workers are required to work at least one advance voting opportunity and General Voting Day.

• How much will I be paid?

  Pay rate information is available in each job description.

• Do I have to attend training?

  Yes. All election workers are required to attend a mandatory in-person paid training session. Training will be offered during the week of September 14, with sessions scheduled in the morning, afternoon, and evening, depending on the role. Training dates and times are listed in each job description.

  Attendance at the assigned training session is a condition of employment. If you are unable to attend the training session scheduled for your role, please do not apply, as alternate training sessions and exceptions cannot be accommodated.

Election Worker Roles

• Presiding Election Official

  Oversees all aspects of voting operations at an assigned voting place, ensuring election procedures are followed and supporting election workers throughout the day. This role is ideal for individuals with leadership or supervisory experience, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced environment. Election experience is an asset.

• Alternate Presiding Election Official

  Supports the Presiding Election Official by assisting with the coordination of voting operations and carrying out delegated responsibilities as required. This role is ideal for returning election workers who are looking to expand their skills, take on additional responsibilities, and gain leadership experience.

• Election Official

  Supports voting operations at an assigned voting place by guiding voters through the voting process, verifying documentation, processing registrations, issuing ballots, and providing information and assistance. This role is ideal for individuals with strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and comfort using computers while working directly with the public.
