The City of Delta is proud to announce the launch of its new public alert system, designed to provide Delta residents, businesses, and visitors with timely information during emergencies and critical incidents.

Emergencies can happen at any time, and Delta is taking proactive steps to ensure the community stays informed through alerts delivered directly to personal devices. Notifications may include emergency warnings, severe weather updates, public safety incidents, and other urgent information.

“The best way to prepare for an emergency is to stay informed,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “This new public alert system will help keep our community connected with accurate, real-time information on emergencies, threats, and critical incidents. I encourage anyone who lives or spends time in Delta to sign up today.”

The public alert system is powered by Alertable and allows users to customize how they receive notifications, including by text message, email, phone, or mobile app. Users can also choose the types of alerts they would like to receive.

“We look forward to having this public alert system as an invaluable new tool in our toolbox, keeping Delta better connected than ever before,” said Delta Fire Chief Dave Wood. “As a community, let’s commit to prioritizing our safety and the safety of our families by staying informed, together.”

The introduction of this new alert system follows a 2025 survey of residents across Delta, in which 88% of respondents expressed interest in receiving emergency alerts directly from the City. Going forward, the public alert system will form part of Delta’s overall emergency preparedness and management efforts, building on existing structures and helping to reach more residents than ever before.

Registration for the new system is free, and residents and those who work or spend time in Delta are encouraged to sign up at delta.ca/Alerts.
