The City of Delta's Planting Our Roots – Free Tree Project is back! Residents can fill out the reservation form to be entered in a draw for a chance to claim one of 250 free trees and play a hands-on role in growing Delta's urban tree canopy.
What You Need to Know
- The online reservation form will remain open until Thursday, April 9 at 11:59 pm.
- Each household may submit one (1) entry for a tree, which will be delivered to the homes of successful recipients in time for the spring planting season
- The form includes ten (10) tree varieties to choose from. Applicants are asked to rank their top five (5) preferences. Trees are assigned based on a combination of ranked preferences and available inventory at the time of selection.
- Residents who received a tree through Planting Our Roots – Free Tree Project in 2025 are not eligible to participate this season.
- Share your green thumb! Once your tree is planted, share a photo using #PlantingOurRoots and tag @CityofDeltaBC on Instagram or @CityofDeltaBC on Facebook.
Recipients will be notified approximately two weeks following the close of the registration form. Before planting, tree recipients are reminded to:
- Call before you dig: Contact BC 1 Call to identify any underground utilities before digging in your desired location.
- Confirm your property lines: Use the free DeltaMap tool to make sure your planting spot is on your private property.
The City of Delta provides detailed planting guides and tree care resources to help your new tree thrive. By caring for these trees, residents will contribute to growing our urban tree canopy and fostering a shadier, more climate-resilient Delta for years to come.
